Dosbarth Derwen (Y5/6)
Croeso i Ddosbarth Derwen

Teacher: Mrs Phillips
This Term.
Our main concept for this term is ‘Eco-Architects: A Blueprint for a Greener World'.
We completed 'immersion activities’ in our first few days, where children were introduced to the topic and developed a basic understanding of the theme. I can safely say these activities were enjoyed by everyone!
We will be considering our own 'carbon footprint' and how our actions impact our world. Maybe we can make little tweaks and help to save our beautiful planet! Every small action helps and brings positive change! Pupils will learn how materials are produced and recycled and will be investigating the journey of a plastic bottle. Get ready for your child to transform into an eco warrior!
With our 'scientist' hats on, we will be planning an investigation to discover the link between Co2 and heat. Exciting things to come!
Children will be exposed to a wide range of genres, experiencing both reading and writing in the styles being studied. This term we will examine explanation texts, sci-fi stories and formal emails.
'Ultrawild', by Steve Mushin, will also be our inspiration for 're-wilding' our own city and making it as eco-friendly as possible. We will be following a design process and we know this will be a creative and fantastic project!

Purple Mash, Times Tables Rock Stars, Mathletics and Reading Eggs can also be accessed from home. We encourage our learners to read every day! It really is so important! 📖 📚 👍🏼
