Autumn Term Newsletter

As we move into the autumn term, the children will be exploring the changes they can see outdoors. We will be noticing the colourful leaves, cooler weather and the signs of autumn appearing all around us. This season will give us lots of opportunities to learn through play, curiosity and hands‑on experiences.

🍁 Our Learning This Term

Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on:

• Seasonal changes – observing leaves, weather and nature.

• Autumn colours and textures – using natural materials in art and sensory play.

• Animals in autumn – learning about squirrels, hedgehogs and birds preparing for winter.

• Harvest time – exploring autumn foods such as apples, pumpkins and vegetables.

• Outdoor learning – collecting leaves, conkers and acorns to use in our classroom activities.

🎨 Activities and Experiences

Children will take part in:

• Leaf printing and colour mixing

• Autumn sensory trays

• Nature walks

• Sorting and counting natural objects

• Simple harvest crafts

• Exploring autumn smells and textures

🧥 Clothing Reminder

As the weather becomes cooler, please ensure your child has:

• A warm coat

• Suitable footwear for outdoor learning

• A labelled hat if needed We spend lots of time outdoors, so comfortable clothing is important.

Once the timetables have been organised and agreed, I will let you know which days we will be having PE and Forest School.
