Our concepts for this term:

Welsh Heritage: Dorian’s Wales: Land, Sea and Legacy (two weeks)

Dorian Spencer Davies is a Welsh artist who was born in Carmarthen and grew up in Pembrokeshire. He is famous for creating colourful paintings of the Welsh coastline, harbours, villages, and castles, helping to celebrate Wales' rich heritage and natural beauty. His unique style uses bright colours and flowing shapes to make Welsh landscapes feel lively and imaginative. By studying his artwork, we can learn about important places in Wales and how artists express pride in their culture and country.

Autumn term theme: Conflict and Resolution

We will complete 'emersion activities’ within our first few weeks, where children will be introduced to our main autumn term theme and will develop a basic understanding of the theme. I know these activities will be enjoyed by everyone!

This term, we will be exploring the theme of Conflict and Resolution, with a particular focus on World War II. Children will learn about the causes and impact of the war, including the experiences of people and families who were forced to leave their homes and become refugees. Through stories, historical sources, art and discussion, pupils will consider how conflict affects individuals and communities, as well as exploring the importance of peace, resilience, empathy and finding ways to resolve disagreements.

There will be lots more going on this term such as Harvest festival, parent consultations, visitors to school and the various Christmas school activities in December. I will share key dates as soon as they are confirmed!

Please support our healthy eating and well-being policy and provide a heathy snack for break time. We suggest a piece of fruit or veggie sticks. Children have access to water throughout the day. Many thanks!

Google Classroom is used widely across the county and we use it during lessons.

Accelerated Reader

You will be able to find the Accelerated Reader link on our Google Classroom stream. 💻 😊 Accelerated Reader is a website that provides a ‘quiz’ or set of comprehension questions based on a book your child has read. This will test their reading and understanding. 

Purple Mash, Times Tables Rock Stars and Reading Eggs

These platforms can also be accessed from home. We encourage our learners to read and practise times tables every day! It really is so important! 📖 📚 👍🏼 

Here is an short overview of these learning sites:
* Purple Mash - a learning platform full of games, templates to type onto and challenges. Lots of fun to be had!

* Reading Eggs - Read books, compete quizzes, collect points and earn trophies!

* TTRS - a learning platform based around brushing up on those times table skills. Participate in battles with other classes, earn points and strive to become a ROCK HERO!

Spelling

New spelling words are sent home fortnightly. Please support your child by helping them to learn these spellings. Diolch!

PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure uniform and appropriate footwear are worn on these days. Diolch!
