Languages, Literacy & Communication
Languages, Literacy and Communication:
Learning languages and developing literacy helps children make sense of the world around them. It gives them the tools to analyse, question and understand different perspectives. Strong skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing support children in every subject. When learners succeed in this area, they are better equipped to succeed across the whole curriculum.
Children will gain knowledge and skills in Welsh, English and international langagues, as well as in literature. Learners are encouraged to notice links between languages, such as word origins and language patterns. This helps them transfer what they know from Welsh and English into learning other international languages.
Developing literacy, language and communication equips children with the confidence, imagination and essential skills they need to floursih in school, in their future careers and in everyday life.
