Humanities:
Subjects such as geography, history, religious education, business studies and social studies all sit under Humanities. These areas share common skills, such as critical thinking, communication and problem solving, while offering their own unique knowledge. At times, learners may also draw on related subjects such as law, philosophy, politics, psychology or sociology to deepen their understanding.
Learning about heritage and identity gives children the chance to explore their heritage and sense of place. Through studying their Cynefin and the history and culture of Wales, learners develop pride in where they come from. Connecting Wales to the wider world. Children learn how the people, communities, industries and landscapes of Wales are linked to global events and developments. This helps them to see Wales not in isolation, but as part of a wider international community.
By exploring the ethnic and cultural diversity within Wales, learners gains a deeper appreciated of the richness of society and how different cultures contribute to the bigger picture. Ultimately, Humanities helps children understand how their own personal story fits into the broader past and present. It gives them the tools to understand not only where they come from, but also where they might go and how they can play their part in shaping the future. Humanities helps to build knowledge, identity, perspective and it helps our children grow into thoughtful, capable citizen of Wales and the world.
