Reading: We use Accelerated Reader for reading books. It uses real books not scheme books. Each book is assigned a number and children are told which range of numbers they should read according to their ability. They can read any book within their range. To have a new book, they must score well on a quiz, which tests their understanding of the book. The link to take a quiz is on our Google Classroom page. They may change books whenever they’re ready! They may take a book home to read with you if you sign a slip.

Spelling: Spelling patterns are taught on a Monday. Spellings are written into green books to take home and practise. Spelling books should then be returned the following Monday.

Times Tables: When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important — the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help your child master the times tables! To be a Times Table Rock Star you need to answer any multiplication fact up to 12x12 in less than 3 seconds! You can find the link on our website page.
