Health & Well-Being
Health and Well-Being:
Health and Well-Being is about the whole child; their physical health, their mental, their emotional well-being and their social development. We know that good health and well-being are the foundations of successful learning. When children feel safe, supported and confident, they are able to thrive in the classroom and beyond. That's why this area of learning is designed not only to help them look after their bodies but also to nurture their minds and emotions, and to build positive relationships with others. It also gives children the tools to make informed choices about their mental health and well-being. They learn to think critically about the influences around them, whether from friends, media or wider society, and to understand how those influences can shape their values and behaviours.
Importantly, Health and Well-being helps children to see how all these aspects are connected. Physical health, mental health, emotional resilience and social relationships all work together to create a positive state of well-being. By understanding this, learners can develop the habits, attitudes and outlook that will support them not just in school but throughout their lives.
In a world that is changing rapidly, Health and Well-being equips our children with the resilience and confidence they need to face challenges, make good decisions and grow into healthy, capable and compassionate individuals.
