Welcome back to the Spring term! We are all very excited to see the children grow and develop this term.
This term our topic is, ‘Our World’, where we will be looking at recognising different animals and birds (in conjunction with the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch). Children will then explore how to look after our world, for example by helping us to recycle different materials through sorting them and making something useful with it. There are many other important days this term that the children will explore and complete activities, including, St David’s Day, St Dwynwen’s Day and British Science Week to name a few!
In class we use a total communication approach, using spoken word, sign (Signalong) and visual pictures. The children respond very well to these as well as the use of 'now and next' and their schedules, which help them to transition from one activity to another. If you wish to learn some sign yourself the link below will take you to the Signalong website in which you can register for a free account.

There is also an app called Sign Studio which can be downloaded onto your devices.
We currently have a sign of the week, which will be published on Seesaw each week, currently this is a colour, however this will change to animals inline with our topic. There is also a letter of the week, which many children practise saying and writing during the week.
PE is on a Tuesday, however the children complete sensory circuits each day, which involves running, climbing and rolling. Children should still wear their uniform, however this should be comfortable and allow them to perform these activities safely.
The children make full use of the schools’ outside areas, including the woods and field throughout the week. Please ensure that your child has a pair of Wellington boots in school, so that they can access these areas in any weather!
We are hoping to restart our visits to the library this term and are planning to go out on the mini bus to look at our local area and what is in it. More information regarding this will be sent out in due course.
You should all have access to Seesaw, in which activities are uploaded on a regular basis. Important announcements will also be added, so please ensure you check it regularly.
If you have any questions or queries regarding your child, please don't hesitate to message us on Teachers2parents or seesaw, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Thank you for your support
