Cyfarthfa
Croeso i Dosbarth Cyfarthfa!
Hello and welcome to Dosbarth Cyfarthfa's class page.
I'm Miss Williams and I am the class teacher for this year alongside our wonderful LSA, Miss Jenkins.
Our current topic is: Belonging, Identity and Cynefin.
Next term we will be looking at:
Here is some useful information regarding our next year together:
PE: PE will be held on a Wednesday and a Friday, therefore PE kits are required. The kits this year are the children's normal school shirt and jumper, but with dark coloured leggings and trainers. Please no jeans, colourful or patterned leggings or expensive football/rugby kits.
Water bottles: This year, all children have received their own school water bottle that gets refilled each and throughout the day. Therefore there is one less thing to carry into school, so please no personal bottles are to be brought in.
School Uniform: At St James, we take pride in our school and want to show that pride by wearing our full uniform each day! We love to see you looking so happy and smart in our lovely uniform so please try to wear this as much as you possibly can. We have a collection of lost property at reception if a jumper or cardi has gone missing or if you need any extras, please let us know.
Reading books and book bags: Each child would have received a book bag containing a reading book and a home school link book. Please ensure that you are reading with your child at home, it is really important for their reading and literary skills and to boost their confidence within their own abilities. In the yellow home school link book, please write a comment on how your child found that book and sign to say they have read. If there is no signature, we will assume that the book has not been read. Please bring back your book bag every Wednesday so that we can change the home reading books.
Read Write Inc: At school we have adopted a new phonic scheme called Read Write Inc. This scheme is designed to teach children the sounds in English, the letters that represent them, and how to form the letters when writing. The scheme is already proving successful, with lots of newly found reading skills within our learners. The children are grouped by ability, so the children in Cyfarthfa this year may not necessarily be with me. If there is any concerns or questions, I can pass this onto the child's phonics teacher.
Homework: All children will have received a digital passport this term. A digital passport is a booklet with all the children's logins and passwords for apps and website for home learning. The children really enjoy using these websites in school to support their learning, so please encourage the children to continue this at home too.
Here are some useful links to the common sites we use in school:
(An app that supports phonetic and reading development through quizzes and games).
(Our phonic scheme. We reguarly set books and quizzes to be completed weekly)
(Like Reading Eggs, Maths seed is an app/website that supports maths skills through games and quizzes).
(Online learning app).
(We are having a BIG push on learning and solidifying our times tables knowledge, especially our 2s, 5s and 10s).
We are very much looking forward to this year together, we can't wait to get started!
Any questions, please ask away!
Diolch,
Miss Williams and Miss Jenkins.
